Crime in Doncaster showed an overall reduction across the selected recorded crime categories we analysed between 2024 and 2025.
The purpose of this crime snapshot is to increase awareness of selected recorded crime trends in Doncaster and provide a simple year-on-year comparison using Police.uk data.
It is not intended to provide a complete picture of all crime in the area. Instead, it focuses on four categories that may be particularly relevant to residents, property owners and businesses: burglary, other theft, vehicle crime, and criminal damage and arson.
The figures include all recorded offences within these categories across Doncaster. They are not limited to residential or commercial properties.
Crime in Doncaster: Key Figures
| Crime category | 2024 | 2025 | Numerical change | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Burglary | 2,362 | 1,905 | -457 | -19.3% |
| Other theft | 2,619 | 2,294 | -325 | -12.4% |
| Vehicle crime | 3,054 | 3,057 | +3 | +0.1% |
| Criminal damage and arson | 3,980 | 3,625 | -355 | -8.9% |
| Selected categories total | 12,015 | 10,881 | -1,134 | -9.4% |
Across the four selected crime categories, the overall number of recorded offences decreased.
There were 12,015 recorded offences in 2024 compared with 10,881 in 2025.
That represents 1,134 fewer recorded offences, an overall reduction of approximately 9.4%.
Three of the four selected categories recorded fewer offences in 2025, while vehicle crime remained almost unchanged.
What Does That Look Like Across the Year?
In 2024, the selected categories accounted for:
12,015 recorded offences across the year
Approximately 1,001 per month
Approximately 32.8 per day
In 2025, there were:
10,881 recorded offences across the year
Approximately 907 per month
Approximately 29.8 per day
These monthly and daily figures are averages across the full year. They do not mean offences occurred evenly from one day or month to another.
What Increased?
Vehicle crime was the only selected category to record an increase, but the change was extremely small.
There were 3,054 recorded vehicle crime offences in 2024 compared with 3,057 in 2025.
That represents just three additional offences, an increase of approximately 0.1%.
In practical terms, vehicle crime remained broadly stable year on year rather than showing a meaningful increase.
What Decreased?
The largest percentage reduction was recorded in burglary.
There were 2,362 recorded burglaries in 2024 compared with 1,905 in 2025.
That represents 457 fewer offences, a reduction of 19.3%.
Other theft also fell.
Recorded other theft offences decreased from 2,619 in 2024 to 2,294 in 2025, representing 325 fewer offences, or a reduction of 12.4%.
Criminal damage and arson fell from 3,980 offences in 2024 to 3,625 in 2025.
That represents 355 fewer recorded offences, a reduction of 8.9%.
Police.uk combines criminal damage and arson within one category in the data used for this snapshot. This means separate totals for vandalism, criminal damage and arson cannot be calculated from these figures.
The overall picture is therefore one of lower recorded totals across most of the selected categories in 2025, with vehicle crime remaining effectively unchanged.
What Could This Mean for Residents and Businesses?
The figures do not show whether individual offences involved private homes, shops, offices, warehouses, construction sites or other types of premises.
They can, however, provide useful local context.
Most of the selected categories decreased during 2025, which should be recognised rather than presenting the figures as evidence that crime increased across Doncaster.
At the same time, 1,905 burglaries, 3,057 vehicle crime offences and 3,625 criminal damage and arson offences were still recorded across Doncaster during the year.
For businesses responsible for premises, vehicles or physical assets, figures such as these may still be worth considering when reviewing access arrangements, out-of-hours security and the protection of exposed property.
There may also be relevance for some residential properties.
Owners of larger homes, private estates or rural properties may have more than the main building to consider, including entrances, driveways, vehicles, garages, outbuildings and wider grounds.
The statistics do not tell us how many offences affected these types of properties and should not be interpreted as evidence that larger homes or estates are specifically being targeted.

About the Crime in Doncaster Data
This snapshot is based on Police.uk street-level recorded crime data covering January to December 2024 and January to December 2025.
The same crime categories and geographic approach have been used for both years to provide a like-for-like comparison.
Police.uk publishes crime locations in an anonymised form, so individual map points should not be treated as exact incident addresses.
The figures should therefore be viewed as a local crime snapshot rather than a record of offences affecting specific homes, businesses or individual properties.
